We are excited to announce that after a hiatus our museum is open again
After a covid closure and some time to freshen up our museum we are excited to announce that we are ready for tours again. Starting May 13th, we will open for tours and visitors. We are open on the second Saturday of every month from 10 am until 3 pm. We are also open every Wednesday from 8 am until 12 pm (noon).
The Long Beach Firefighters Museum is located in old fire station 10. The vast majority of our collection is old and vintage Long Beach Fire Department vehicles, tools and equipment. The collection includes items over 100 years old like the 1922 Ahrens Fox pictured. Most of our docents are retired firefighters.
Our museum proudly displays artifacts dating back more than 100 years of firefighting equipment. Much of it original Long Beach Fire Department equipment.
Long before our paramedics and basic life support ambulance service we had an ambulance service started in the 1940's. Although this 1955 Cadillac was not originally a Long Beach ambulance we did have a 1955 ambulance like this one in the picture.
Sam was a stray cat that the crew at station 6 adopted in the 1950's. Slowly the crew taught Sam to slide the fire pole. When you visit ask to see a short video of Sam sliding the pole.
